Why you need the Higgs particle

Abstract

What is this Higgs boson really. How does it help us understand the structure of the universe. Why is it so important, that thousands of physicists spent billions to find it. These are some of the questions that Brian Cox will try to answer in his talk.

Bria Cox is Professor of Physics at the University of Manchester. He is a member of the ATLAS experimental collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider, but is best known to the public as the presenter of a number of science programmes for the BBC. (more information)
