My main research interest, pertains to the development and analysis of the mathematical models of plant and animal morphogenesis. I like to look at it as the study of the dynamics of complex systems. In such systems the interactions of their elements, governed by the relatively simple rules, can lead to the complicated and unpredictable behavior of the whole. In the biological perspective such situation is very common. Many factors at the genetic, cellular and larger scales interact to produce specialized organs and structures. We study the molecular and mechanical signals involved in the development and growth of plants and animals. With the help of the computational models we try to analyze the experimental data and deduce the interactions that lead to the observed patterns and behaviors.
